GV II

Industrial canal side building (possibly warehouse), now architects' offices, on sloping canal side site, running the full depth of the site to the canal edge. Early C19 with C20 alterations. MATERIALS: Painted limestone rubble street front, ashlar to two-storey canal front, hipped slate roof, no stacks. EXTERIOR: Single storey to street, two to rear. Street front with large central C20 dormer above large C20 window, C20 door to left with shouldered jamb to right. To rear, full height opening to former warehouse is now filled with recessed C20 windows in wooden frames; small two-light casement to lower ground floor right. INTERIOR: Not inspected. Converted by and for Edward Nash, architects c1989: bronze plaque on exterior records Bath Conservation Area Advisory Committee environmental award in that year. A notable industrial survivor along this stretch of the Kennet and Avon Canal, which opened in 1810.
