Description
This is a group of two chest tombs located 10 metres south of the chancel at the Church of St. James in Cameley. The tombs date from the late 18th century and early 19th century and are made of limestone and sandstone. The easternmost tomb is from the 18th century and features a slab with a moulded projecting cornice, along with a chest that has fluted pilasters at the corners and in the centre of each side. It has raised and fielded panels, though the inscriptions are eroded. The 19th-century Dudden tomb is designed in a neo-classical style, featuring wreathed angle pilasters, a raised oval inscription plaque, and emblematic carvings in the upper spandrels, with inscriptions presented in a florid script.
