Description
Claverton Buildings is a house in a row, built in the late 18th century and raised in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a slate roof. The building has four storeys and a basement, which reveals a full five storeys at the rear. The front features two plain sash windows with sill bands at the first and second floors. To the right, there is a panelled door with a transom light, and a further glazed door with a transom light is located in the centre. The house has a small plinth, a bold moulded cornice above the second floor, and a cornice with a blocking course and parapet at the third floor. The gable is coped with a very deep but cropped stack on the left, and the roof is double with a central valley. The rear mainly has plain sash windows, including a twelve-pane window to the staircase at the second floor, along with stepped flat-roofed extensions. The main range features a cavetto cornice with a blocking course and parapet. The interior has not been inspected. The house maintains the scale and floor levels of the adjoining properties but appears to have been substantially refaced or rebuilt in the 19th century.
