Description

The north and east boundary walls of Lyncombe Hill Burial Ground were built in the late 18th century. They are made of coursed squared limestone and stand as high as 3.5 meters, featuring triangular copings. These walls are a prominent landscape feature on Claverton Street. Historically, they enclosed the Unitarian Burial Ground, which was gifted by Mr. Howse in 1819 as a burial site, complete with a chapel where many interments have occurred. The burial ground has since been built over.
