Description

This is a group of three early 19th-century terrace houses located on Lyncombe Hill. The front elevation is limestone ashlar, with returns in dressed stone, and the roofs are tiled — concrete on number 1, double Roman on number 3, and pantile on number 5. The central house is slightly set forward, with a stepped elevation and double roofs creating a valley. The houses are three storeys high with a basement, each featuring a single window with a twelve-pane sash. Numbers 3 and 5 have railed areas in front of the basement's large sash windows. Each house has a panelled door with a fanlight, with radial bars and swagged detailing on the fanlights in numbers 1 and 5. A first-floor band, cornice, blocking course, and parapet run along the top of the front elevation, and each house also has two ashlar chimney stacks. The left-hand end of the terrace has a twelve-pane sash window above a small oculus. The rear elevation, situated above the former Lyncombe Baptist Burial Ground, is constructed of squared random stonework and includes various sash windows with glazing bars. The interior includes an old kitchen with a stone-flagged floor, a large dresser with shelving, and an old range, as well as a stone entrance porch with a tiled floor.
