Description
The Shambles is likely a former farmhouse or brewery, now serving as a store and flats. It dates from the late 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and features a modern tile double mansard roof with coped raised verges and a parapet on the north side. It has two gables facing the road and stands three storeys tall. There are two windows, which are paired large pane sashes with a central stone mullion and plain surround. On the ground floor to the left, there is a large plate window beneath the remains of a segmental arch, indicating a former carriage entry. The central entrance is a six-panel door located under a flat stone hood supported by brackets.
