Description
Manorthorpe and Gardenthorpe is a house, now divided into two flats, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a slate roof with coped raised verges behind a parapet and a moulded cornice. The building has two storeys and attics, which are accommodated in modern dormers, and it is arranged in five bays. The windows are 8-pane glazing bar sash windows set within moulded architraves, with panelled aprons and a string course above the ground floor. The central entrance consists of a panelled door with an overlight, framed by Tuscan pilasters that support a broken pediment featuring a heraldic shield. Flanking the central window above are fluted Ionic pilasters. Inside, there is a fine turned baluster staircase.
