Description
No. 2 Princes Street is a house located at the end of a row, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar, with the ground floor painted, and the roof is not visible. The property is adjacent to the rear of the Griffin Inn and has a trapezoidal shape, returning to Princes Street at an angle.
The building features three storeys and a basement, with all windows being twelve-pane sash types set in plain reveals. On the angled side, there are paired lights at three levels, along with a pavement grille. To the right, there is a single sash window at the second and first floors, positioned above a small mid-18th century multi-pane oriel display window with a cornice. The entrance is off-centre to the left, consisting of a six-panel door accessed by two steps, with a smaller 20th-century glazed door to the right. The house has a small plinth that slopes down to the right, a platband above the ground floor inscribed with "PRINCES STREET" above the main door, a moulded cornice with a blocking course, and a parapet. A deep stack is located to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
