Description
No. 12A Princes Street is a former house that is part of an end terrace, dating from the early 19th century, with a 20th-century shopfront. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar and has a slate roof. It is located at the end of the south side of the terrace in Beauford Square, on a trapezoidal site.
The exterior features three storeys and two windows, all of which are glazing bar sashes, with a nine-pane window above a twelve-pane window. The ground floor includes a modern shopfront with a recessed door on the right and a panelled door with a margin pane transom light on the left. The original shopfront has broad pilasters with an incised surround, topped by a platband that supports giant Doric pilasters leading to a lintel with a frieze, a blocking course, and a parapet, which has dies to pedimented caps above the pilasters.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a carefully detailed terrace that also includes Nos. 30a, 31, and 32 Monmouth Street.
