Description
No. 86 Walcot Street is a former house from the late 18th century, although some sources suggest it may date back to before 1776. It is part of an irregular terrace and features a mid-19th century projecting shop with later 20th century windows. The building is constructed of painted limestone ashlar and has a double-pitched roof covered with double Roman tiles, complete with moulded stacks on the left side.
The exterior stands three storeys high and has a three-window front. It includes a coped parapet and a stopped cornice. The second floor has plate glass sash windows, while the first floor features two/two-pane sashes with horizontal glazing bars. A moulded cornice runs along the fascia, which is enhanced by paired moulded consoles with turned pendants above the doors. The far left side has a four-panel door with an overlight, and there is a set-back door in the centre of the shop. The interior has not been inspected.
