Description
No. 3 Avenue Place is a house located in Combe Down, built in the early to mid-18th century with some alterations from the 19th century. The building is constructed from rendered stone rubble and features a double Roman tile roof. It has a two-cell single depth plan, with the entrance on the right and a wing projecting to the left, which partially obscures No. 3.
The exterior of the house is two storeys high. The ground floor has two modern windows with top opening lights, while the upper floor features a late 19th-century four-pane sash window and a blind recess to the left. The entrance includes a part-glazed door topped by a flat hood supported by shaped stone brackets. The roof has stone verges and a rubble stack on the left side. The rear elevation has not been seen.
Avenue Place is noted as one of the earliest developments in Combe Down, appearing on a drawing from 1759.
