Description

Lonsdale is a house in a row, built around 1900. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a tile roof featuring an unusual flat overlap tile design. The house has a wide gabled central section to its broad frontage. It is two storeys and an attic in height. The main gable contains a three-light stone mullioned casement window, above which are three-light gabled dormers on each side. The windows on the first floor are plain sashes set in splayed surrounds. The central feature of the house comprises canted bays rising through two floors, corbelled together at the top to align with the plane of the gable. A ground-floor right-hand bay includes an arched opening with a keystone above a panelled door with a fanlight. The house has a plinth and two ridge stacks. The interior has not been inspected. The design is eccentric, markedly departing from established terrace traditions. The building is included in the listing for its group value.
