Description

This structure is a raised pavement and steps, dating from the early 19th century. It extends about 200 metres from the junction with The Chalks to Tun Bridge. The pavement is made of pennant paving set on sandstone rubble walls, which are approximately one metre high. The pavement itself is about 1½ metres wide and ramps down at each end to road level. There are three sets of steps at intervals along the pavement: three steps at the south end, a central double flight of three steps, and four steps at the north end.
