Description

This is a house in a row, dating from around 1800 or the late 18th century, with a raised single storey added in the early 19th century. It is built of limestone ashlar, with coursed rubble to the rear, and has a slate roof. The front elevation is three storeys high and features one window. The upper windows are six-pane sashes with sills, while the ground floor window has paired eight-pane sashes. To the left is an original flush four-panel door, sheltered by a thin slab hood with a moulded edge and shaped brackets. Thin drip courses run above the ground and first floors, and a sill band is present on the first floor. There are raised coped gables and a two-stage ashlar stack to the right. The rear of the house has a small four-pane sash window above a plain casement, both with a drip course at first floor level. The interior has not been inspected. This house presents an old-fashioned facade, and was part of the initial development in this area of the city. String courses to the front appear somewhat unusual, but the remainder of the detail is characteristic of an 18th-century design.
