Description

Dunkirk Mill, now two houses named Dunkirk Mill and Middle House, was built as a cloth mill in 1795 for Thomas Joyce, a clothier. It was converted and remodelled in the 1980s. The mill is rendered with ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a hipped slate roof hidden behind an ashlar parapet. The building stands three storeys high, originally five. It has nine two-light casement windows with segmental heads and flat stone mullions. A taller window is located on the first floor of the left-hand bay. A doorway is situated in the third bay from the right, featuring an arched head with a keystone and imposts. A further bay is set back to the right and includes an arched doorway. Attached to the right is the Mill House, which is separately listed in Freshford C.P.
