Description

The Stothert Family Tomb, located in Abbey Cemetery, was built in 1855 and is designed in the Greek Revival style. It is made of Pennant stone and features acroteria. This monument honors Elisabeth Stothert, who lived from 1765 to 1855, and was the second wife of George Stothert, an ironmaster and founder of the firm Stothert & Pitt. George Stothert was buried in a vault beneath St James's Church alongside his first wife. The tomb is plain and somewhat overgrown, but it holds historical significance.
