Description

This is a terrace of three shops, dating from the early 19th century. The shop to the right is part of the “First Inn, Last Out” public house, and is separately listed. The construction is limestone ashlar with double-pitched slate roofs and moulded stacks to the party walls. The terrace has two storeys and a four-window front. It features a continuous coped parapet cornice which returns to the left, and a continuous cornice over the shopfronts, articulated by pilasters with banded rustication. The first floor has tripartite sash windows with stone mullions. The shopfronts were altered around 1870; No. 5 has one window above a shop window with altered two panes of plate glass; No. 6 has one window above a shop window with altered four panes of plate glass; and No. 7 has two six/six pane sashes on each floor. There is one window to the left return. The interiors have been altered.
