Description
Bridge House is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It has a timber-frame structure that is now rendered, standing on a rubble base, and features hipped and pitched pantile roofs. The building has two storeys and the north-east elevation includes a gabled section on the left with a jettied first floor above a multi-pane, former shop window. There is a three-light casement window in the gable and a plank door in a lean-to on the left. The right side of the house is constructed of ashlar and has two 16-pane glazing bar sash windows on each floor. The north-west elevation features two additional 16-pane glazing bar sash windows and a rubble wing on the right, which has a two-light casement window with a brick segmental head below it. To the south-east, there is another wing with irregular window placements, including a small window with a chamfered surround and a two-light casement window in an ovolo moulded surround. The western part of the building is supported by an arched bridge over a tributary. Inside, there is a shell-headed cupboard with cut shelves and arms carved in the niche.
