Description
The George and Dragon Public House is a coaching inn, now functioning as a public house, dating from the mid-18th century. It formerly displayed the date 1752 on a door. The building is rendered and features a pantile roof behind a moulded parapet and cornice. It has three storeys and a cellar, with three bays plus an additional bay to the right. The windows are sash style with vertical glazing bars, set in raised surrounds that have bead moulding and keystones, with plain bands above. The central entrance is a six-panel door framed by a moulded architrave with a keystone, topped by a flat stone hood supported on brackets. To the right, there is a segmental headed coach entry, also featuring a keystone and imposts. Above this entry, the building has two storeys with quoins, culminating in a pediment and parapet, and the first floor window has a semi-circular panel above it.
