Description
No. 16 Kingsmead Square is a terrace house built around 1770, with some 20th-century additions. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and has a concrete tile roof. The building stands tall at five storeys and features two bays, all with plain sash windows. The ground floor includes a projecting square display window from the 20th century and a glazed door with a very shallow transom light to the left. The facade has three platbands, a cornice, a shallow blocking course, and a parapet that continues with No. 17 next door. There are straight joints on each side and at the rear, which faces Monmouth Street. This rear section includes a small projecting wing with a swept-down roof, featuring asbestos-cement slate hanging on the sides. Although it shares a parapet with the adjoining property, this house has five floors instead of four. The interior has not been inspected.
