Description
No. 9 Trafalgar Road is a house that was formerly a brewery with a shop, built around 1830 and altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar and rubblestone, topped with a pantile roof featuring a moulded stack on the rear wing.
The house has a double depth plan with a long rear wing and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. It features a coped parapet that extends over the gable ends, along with a cornice, frieze, and platband. The windows are late 19th century plate glass sash windows, with the central one on the ground floor being blind. Above the central six-panel door, which is glazed at the top, there is a continuous timber lintel that extends to the right. To the right of the door, there is a two-light bay window with a low parapet, continuous plat band, and chamfered stone mullions, which may date from the later 19th century but are in a similar Neo-classical style to the rest of the elevation. The rear wing contains various windows and is now a separate dwelling with 20th-century doors and windows. The interior has not been inspected.
