Description
Nos. 134 and 135 on High Street are two houses that have been converted into shops. They date from the early 19th century but have had some alterations in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature double pitched roofs covered in slate and pantiles, with moulded stacks on the party walls.
The structure is three storeys high, with each unit having a single-window range. The coped parapet extends over the gable ends on the left side, and there is a cornice and frieze. Originally, the buildings had eight-over-eight pane sash windows. No. 134, on the left, has 20th-century windows on the second and ground floors, along with a mid-19th century painted timber canted bay window on the first floor, which includes a cornice, panelled pilasters, and panelled aprons above a 20th-century shop front. The left return features a 20th-century door and windows. No. 135 has mid-19th century sash windows with two-over-two panes and horizontal glazing bars above its 20th-century shop front. The interiors have not been inspected.
