Description

A terrace of seven houses on Thomas Street, built around 1830. The houses continue Lyndhurst Place to the right, stepping downhill. They are constructed from limestone ashlar, with the roof materials and chimneys not visible. Each house has two storeys and a basement, with a two-window front. They feature coped parapets, cornices, lintel friezes, and ground floor platbands. The windows are sash windows, typically with six-pane glazing; however, variations exist. The ground floor windows have semi-elliptical recesses. The original houses have six/six-pane sash windows, with number 20 having splayed reveals to plate glass sash windows. Number 21 has plate glass sash windows incorporating scrolled balconettes to the first floor, while number 22 has plate glass sash windows. Number 23 also has splayed reveals to plate glass sash windows, number 24 features plate glass sash windows, and number 25 has 20th-century windows. Number 26 retains its original six/six-pane sash windows. The interiors have not been inspected. A lease dated 28th July 1834, referencing a lease of 17th July 1833, details the building of numbers 20 and 21 by William Jennings, a plasterer.
