Description
The Powderhouse, located 80 meters north of Downside House, dates from around 1870. It features squared, coursed rubble walls and a roof covered with double Roman clay tiles. This simple gabled building measures 3 meters square and has overhanging eaves. The south gable includes a plain door opening fitted with a riveted steel door and frame. Inside, the walls are lined with tongue and groove boarding. The structure is situated 200 meters from the Camerton Old and New Pits, for which it was originally built.
