Description

The Skinner monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, ten metres north of the tower of the Church of St. Peter. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of ashlar stone. The monument features a square pedestal set on a moulded plinth, with raised panels on the sides that include text and a scroll frieze. At the top, it is surmounted by an urn. This monument commemorates the Skinner family, who were relatives of the Rev. Skinner, a well-known local antiquarian who tragically died by suicide.
