Description
Central Methodist Church is a Methodist church dated 1894, constructed with rubble brought to courses and featuring freestone dressings and a concrete tile roof. The building is two storeys high with a basement. Its large gabled main block has two tall three-light windows at the ground level, which have shafts and moulded segmental heads. Between these windows is an attached shaft. Above, there is a similar four-light window where the center two lights are taller. In the gable, there is a dated roundel, and the gable features raised coped verges on kneelers and a finial. Quoins extend down to the plinth, below which the basement has plain segmental one and two-light windows. A flight of steps with a wrought iron handrail ascends to the left at the first floor above a two-arch entry supported by a heavy central column and responds. This building reflects the ongoing strength of non-conformity in the parish and is an important part of the notable group at the village center.
