Description

Nos. 3 and 5 Crown Hill, Weston, are two attached houses. No. 2 dates from the early 19th century, while No. 3 is early 18th century.

No. 2 is a three-storey building of limestone ashlar with a rubble stone plinth, set behind a low coped parapet. It has a double-pitched roof covered in Roman tiles, with moulded stacks at the gable ends. The windows are six-pane sashes. There is a painted ashlar ground floor, and an altered half-glazed door with wrought iron scroll brackets. To the right is a long, painted timber lintel, possibly concealing a former carriage arch or shopfront, now containing a horned six-pane sash window.

No. 3 is a two-storey and attic building of painted limestone ashlar with a steeply pitched Roman tile roof. A late 19th-century two-light casement dormer window is on the right side of the roof, along with a square brick stack to the right gable end. It has a two-unit plan with a rear right wing. The windows are small eight-pane sashes, likely dating to the late 18th century. The front entrance is within a late 18th-century doorcase consisting of plain pilasters that support a carved scroll frieze and cornice above a six-panel door. C20 windows are located to the rear. The interiors have not been inspected.
