CHURCH ROAD, Weston Thomas Warr Attwood tomb in Church of All Saints Churchyard

Tomb of Thomas Warr Attwood (d.1775). By Thomas Baldwin. Bath stone. A chest tomb, situated to the south-east of the chancel, with a fluted frieze sporting bucrania; paterae with husks to the swept-in sides. Above is a tall urn, placed over an upswept base. The monument is set within exceptionally fine wrought iron railings with a spider¿s-web motif to front and ends. Listed for exceptional architectural and historic interest. Attwood was a prosperous plumber and glazier, who served as architect to the Corporation: he was accidentally killed while surveying the old market. The tomb is designed by his clerk, Thomas Baldwin, who became one of the key architects of late C18 Bath. No 301 on the churchyard plan.
