Description
Monk's Retreat is a house, possibly originally a priest's house and later a farmhouse, dating from the 16th century and altered over time. It is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings and has a pantile roof with coped raised verges. The building has two storeys.
The main (south) elevation overlooks the churchyard and features three plain two-light casement windows on the ground floor. On the first floor, there are two three-light casements, one with pointed heads and hollow chamfered surrounds on the right, and the other with four-centred heads and chamfered surrounds on the left, both under a dripmould.
On the west gable end, the four-centre heads of a two-light window are visible, with a 20th-century door inserted. The north side displays a two-light casement with chamfered mullions and four-centred heads, along with a lateral stack that is corbelled out at the first floor level. There is also a 20th-century door in the east gable end and an 18th-century two-light casement window to the left.
