Description

Dafford's Place, now numbers 1-4, is a group of houses forming an informal terrace built in the early to mid-19th century. The properties are constructed of limestone ashlar with pantile and Welsh slate roofs. The plan is of small, double-depth cottages.

The houses present a two-storey, single-bay frontage, except for No. 2, which has two bays. The fronts are generally plain ashlar, punctuated by a parapet string. This string steps down from above No. 1 to Nos. 3 and 4. No. 1 features a late-19th century canted bay with plain sash windows on the ground floor and a further plain sash window above. It contains a plain doorway to the right. The roof terminates with a truncated stack at the right end of the ridge. No. 2 is slightly larger and contains six-over-six sash windows. A six-panel door is located on the left, sheltered by a trellis hood. It has an ashlar stack on the right. Nos. 3 and 4 form a pair, with plain sash windows and plain doorways, sharing a common stack. The cornice and parapet lines continue with No. 1 of Dafford's Buildings (listed separately) which likely indicates they were built together. The rear elevation is not visible. The interior has not been inspected.
