Description
The Tithe Barn, attached to the south end of Rectory Farmhouse, dates from the 15th or early 16th century. It is constructed of ashlar and coursed squared rubble, topped with a double Roman tiled roof featuring coped raised verges and finials. The barn has a traditional plan with a gabled, projecting porch on the south side, which includes square-headed and double chamfered jambs. There are buttresses with offsets and single-storey lean-to additions on either side of the porch. The rear cart entrance has a chamfered surround and a 4-centred head. The west gable features a blocked wheel window with curved spokes and a loft door in a chamfered and 4-centre headed surround. The east gable has a battered plinth and diagonal buttresses with offsets, along with two cross loop windows that have pierced quatrefoil tracery. Inside, the barn consists of five bays, with three raised cruck trusses that have arch-braced collar beams and the remains of two tiers of windbracing.
