Description
Tivoli House is a large detached house dating from the early 19th century. Constructed of ashlar with slate roofs, it is situated on a sloping site facing south across Lyncombe Vale. The house is a compact block with two deep gabled wings, returning to the north side at the entrance. The site's slope results in an additional storey on the garden front.
The south front is three storeys and attic height, with a terrace, and features three windows. Twelve-pane sashes are present at the first and second floors, while paired French casements with segmental heads occupy the ground floor in two bays. Coped gables with stacks are present, along with a stack between bays two and three, and laylights to the roof slope. The front facing the road has two wide gables with stacks, all constructed in plain dressed stonework. A central arched sash with intersecting bars sits above a rich panelled 19th-century door, which is set within panelled pilasters and a flat moulded cornice hood. The left return includes a gable end and a flush wing, incorporating various sash windows with glazing bars. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
A boundary wall, approximately 3 meters high and with saddleback coping, runs to the left on the entrance side. This wall follows the downward slope of the street and extends along the full width of the site.
