Description
The Roman well, dating from the 3rd century, is located at NGR ST 6571 6939 in Keynsham. It features coursed limestone rubble walling and has a diameter of 0.6 meters. Historically, the well was situated next to a small Roman building that included a bath suite, which was linked to a large Roman villa at Durley Hill to the west. The site was excavated in 1922, and the building's foundations were repositioned in 1927. Currently, the well is protected by a manhole cover and is surrounded by the buildings of the Cadbury factory.
