Description
Keynsham Abbey pier base is located in the garden of Number 3 Abbey Park, although Number 3 itself is not included in this listing. This pier, which may have originated from the nave of Keynsham Abbey, dates from the 14th or early 15th century. It consists of four separate blocks made of fine ashlar, standing about 2 meters tall. The pier has an octagonal shape, featuring a plain lower section and small clustered shafts above. Currently, it serves as a garden ornament and is situated approximately 40 meters south of Number 3 Abbey Park. The pier is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
