Description
Keynsham Hams Bridge is a Grade II listed structure made of pennant stone, featuring squared and coursed stone on the faces and soffit, with ashlar used for the voussoirs, copings, and quoins. The bridge has a depressed, four-centred arch that spans 16 feet (5 meters), with chamfered voussoirs that end in chamfer stops. There is a low, continuous chamfered plinth around the external faces and the carriageway faces. The arch soffit and carriageway faces are also made of coursed and squared stone.
On both external faces, the archway is flanked by stepped buttresses, which have offsets with a drip-mould and arris. The faces of the bridge are otherwise plain, extending straight as wing walls that rise to form very low parapets without any intermediate moulding. The coping has a shallow fall. There are post-war galvanised steel railings with a round section mounted on top of the parapets, but these are not considered of special interest.
