Description
The causeway and lockbridge located north-east of "Ile d'Avon" is a structure that possibly dates from the Avon Navigation Improvements of the 1720s, although it appears to have early 19th-century characteristics. The bridge features a slightly hump-backed parapet made of ashlar stone, with a band at road level. It has a segmental arch with a keystone, and the parapet is rounded and secured with metal cramps. On the south-east side, there is a Motor Car Act Sign issued by the Great Western Railway. The bridge is approached by a causeway supported by four spaced landarches, two of which have a band and keys. Additionally, there is a towpath on an embankment situated between the first landarch and the bridge.
