Description
The Ile d'Avon Club is a building dating from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It features a rendered exterior and modern pantile roofs with coped end verges. The structure is two storeys high with a basement. The front elevation facing the road has four windows on the first floor and two plus one on the ground floor, with two blocked windows and the others being glazing bar sashes. There are continuous weathered strings above the window heads, and two 2-light flat stone mullioned casements in the gable face.
The south-west elevation is constructed of rubble with quoins and stepped raised blocks at the attic gable verge, featuring a small central gable with coping and a saddlestone. This side has three windows with plain cornices and two surviving narrow 4-light basement windows with flat mullions. There are also two brick stacks. The west elevation has two windows, with paired 2-light flat mullion windows on the first floor that include glazing bars and a cill band. At the rear, there is a curved setback to the right of center for a stair turret, with the lower flight now made of concrete.
