Description

These cottages at 10 to 18 Prospect Place were likely built before 1814. They form a terrace of three storeys and an attic. Each cottage originally had a single sash window, although these have largely lost their glazing bars and some have been altered. The ground-floor windows have been widened, with the exception of No. 16. The original six-panel front door remains at No. 10, with the lower pair of panels moulded, the central pair fielded, and the upper panel glazed. The frontages of Nos 10 and 12 are stuccoed, while Nos 14 to 18 have cobble frontages, with painted brick quoins marking the openings and the divisions between the houses. A painted brick modillion eaves cornice runs along the front and rear of the terrace, except for the front of No. 10. The cottages, taken as a group, demonstrate group value.
