Description
The Former Victoria Inn is a building that was remodeled in the early 19th century and again in the late 19th century, though it may have originated in the 17th century. It is possibly timber framed and has two storeys and an attic. The north front, facing Montague Street, features two Victorian-style sash windows beneath a dentilled cornice and a four-light casement window in the gable, which has a shouldered parapet. To the east, there is a two-storey extension with a parapet and a flat roof. The west front has one sash window that matches those on the north front. The entire ground storey frontage has been remodeled with glazed tiles and Victorian sashes, while the upper part is finished in stucco. The building has a steeply pitched slate roof and the interior has a ground floor that is lower than street level. Notably, the building leans slightly to the north.
