Description

This barn, located to the north of Harland Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century and was altered in the 19th century. It features a three-bay timber-framed structure clad in weatherboarding, standing on a sandstone plinth, and topped with a modern steeply pitched tiled roof that includes gablets. Surrounding the original barn are 19th-century brick and weatherboarded outshots on the north, west, and east sides. Inside, the barn retains original timbers up to the tie beam level, with jowled posts and curved braces supporting the wallplates. The roof includes later Queen struts and strengthening timbers, with purlins that were added in the 19th century.
