Description
Harlands Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, which was altered and extended on the right side in the 19th century. The original part of the house consists of three bays, featuring a ground floor made of brown brick set on a sandstone plinth, and a first floor that is tile hung, with alternating courses of plain and pointed tiles. The roof is made of Horsham stone slate and the building has two storeys, attics, and a basement. There are three modern mullioned windows and a central 19th-century wooden gabled porch. The left side elevation has an attic with an iron casement window that has diamond panes. The rear elevation features a large tapering chimney stack from the late 16th century, with a sandstone base and a brick top. The extension on the right side is two storeys high and has a lower elevation, made of brown brick with a plinth and a Horsham stone slab roof, and includes one casement window. The rear elevation has a simple doorcase with a plank door and wooden weatherboard. This building is depicted on a 1638 estate map.
