Description

Gander Cottage is a house that was originally a farmhouse and later became a lodge. It appears to be a 17th-century lobby entrance house, although the owner claims it dates back to the 14th century. The building is timber framed and has been refaced in red brick on the ground floor, with sandstone, and is weatherboarded on the first floor. It has a half-hipped modern plain tiled roof with off-center brick chimney stacks. The house is two stories tall and has three windows, featuring 19th-century casements. The ground floor includes two Gothick-headed metal casements and a simple plank door. On the right side elevation, there is a three-light canted bay with a Gothick pointed-headed casement. The roof is said to have been extensively altered. An interior inspection was not possible at the time of the survey.
