Description
Lodge Farmhouse is a house that may date from the late 15th century or early 16th century, originally built as a timber-framed open hall. It has a T-shaped layout with additions and a new front made in the early 19th century. The exterior of the front range is partly clad in sandstone and brick on the ground floor, with tile hanging on the first floor. The roof is steeply pitched, hipped on the left side, and features a gablet. There is a brick chimneystack located off the central ridge. The house has two storeys and three windows, with casement windows on the first floor that include some beaded lights. The front entrance has a plain plank doorcase set within a moulded architrave. The left side elevation displays diamond patterns made of scalloped tiles on the first floor. The rear elevation reveals exposed box framing with some diagonal tension braces and plastered infill. The T wing, added in the early 19th century, is constructed of both brick and tile hanging, with a brick chimneystack at the gable end. Inside, the farmhouse features exposed beams, including curved tension braces, an inglenook fireplace, and old plank doors.
