Description
The Barn is a building that was originally constructed as a barn in the 15th century. It underwent alterations in the 17th century and was converted into a house in 1952. The structure is timber-framed with modern brick infilling set on a brick plinth. It features a steeply pitched tiled roof with a gablet on the left side. The building has two storeys and consists of four bays, showcasing box framing with curved braces. There are three modern casement windows and an external brick stack. The roof structure includes a 17th-century Queen strut with butt purlins. Inside, the barn retains jowled posts and tie-beams, although most of the arched braces have been removed. This barn was originally part of Ockenden Manor.
