Description
The animal drinking trough and drinking fountain, located at the junction of South Street and Ockenden Lane in Cuckfield, is a late 19th-century structure. It features a rectangular basin made of granite, supported by granite piers that include two carriage curbing stones. Atop the trough is an ogee-headed drinking fountain, which was noted to be mutilated at the time of the survey. The side of the basin bears an inscription that reads, "In memory of Capt C W Sergison, Scots Guards and Michael Delaval Sergison, erected by their sister Lady Clanusk." This structure is included for its local historical interest.
