Description
The barn, likely dating from the early 18th century or earlier, is located on the north side of the yard at Rapkyns Farm. It is a timber-framed structure built upon a stone dwarf wall, with weatherboard cladding and a plain tile roof. The barn comprises three bays. On the north side is a central cart entrance with a double door, while the south side (facing the yard) features a pair of board winnowing doors. The interior retains a complete timber frame of substantial timbers, including a cill and wall plates. The framing consists of curved and straight braces connecting wall posts to a mid rail and tie-beams, with intermediate studs. A queen strut roof is supported by trusses and rafters. Attached farm buildings are not of special architectural or historical interest.
