Description

This is an 18th-century building, originally 7 windows wide, set within a row of properties on Lion Street. The facade is constructed of red brick with vertical strips of grey headers, and alternating red brick and grey headers in the western two bays. Brick quoins and dressings are also present. A cornice, with modillions that have been renewed in places, runs along the top of the building. The windows are set within frames. The central three bays project slightly and are topped with a pediment. A doorway is situated centrally, featuring Doric pilasters, a pediment, and a semi-circular fanlight above a six-panel moulded door. Narrow windows are located on either side of the door. The building forms a group with numbers 1 to 6 Lion Street, and also contributes to the group within St Martin’s Square, alongside the adjacent house at number 3 St Martin's Square.
