Description
Nos 14 to 16 on South Street are early 18th century buildings featuring a red tiled hipped roof and three storeys with six window bays. They have a small red brick cornice with modillions beneath the eaves. The second floor windows are set in flat arches, while the first floor windows have segmental arches with brick voussoirs. The windows are framed, with Nos 14 and 16 having sash windows, and No 15 featuring two-light casement windows. There are modern shop fronts on the ground floor. At the northern end, No 14 is integrated into the east front of the Vicar's Hall and Crypt, with an extension of the Vicar's Hall above on the first floor. The ground floor of No 14 is occupied by a late 19th century or early 20th century plate-glass shop front, flanked by rusticated pilasters, and features a fascia with a frieze and cornice. Nos 14 to 16, along with the Vicar's Hall and Crypt and Nos 8 to 25, form a group.
