Description
56 and 56A South Street is a building that combines two premises, originally constructed in the 18th century and later refronted in the 19th century. It features a tiled gabled roof with a wide modern dormer window that has a hipped tiled roof. The building is finished in stucco and consists of two storeys and an attic. A small dentilled cornice runs below the eaves. There are two sash windows on the upper floor, set in reveals with square heads and retaining their glazing bars, framed by a stuccoed architrave with shoulders. The ground floor has been partly cut away and is occupied by 20th-century shop fronts.
