Description
West Lodge is a Grade II listed building located on Barrack Lane, and is evidently the lodge to West House. It dates from the Regency period and features Gothic elements, similar to the pointed windows of West House. There are two pointed windows here, one on the north side and one in the east extension, both with Y-tracery. The lodge is a single-storey structure, finished in roughcast, with a double-span hipped slate roof that has ridge chimneys.
A notable feature is the metal verandah, which has trellis columns and a convex roof adorned with a fringe of petal forms. The building includes large sash windows, most of which have glazing bars; there are three on the south side, two plus a door on the west side, and three on the north side. Additionally, there are elementary pilasters with grooved decoration.
